The 2 Series Gran Tourer is BMW’s first seven-seat MPV in the compact premium segment.

BMWs have always been about sporting luxury. The company’s roots are in sport sedans and coupes, and it has successfully translated that ultimate driving machine formula to other segments such as sport utility vehicles.

Now, it takes on what is usually the most sedate segment and aims to transform it into a vehicle worthy of the blue-and-white propeller.

This is the new seven-seat BMW 2 Series Gran Tourer multi-purpose vehicle (MPV).

Not quite the traditional people carrier or minivan, the 2 Series Gran Tourer is a tall wagon with a relatively large interior.

The 2 Series Gran Tourer is the first seven-seat MPV in the compact premium segment. It offers versatile, functional space for young families, while reportedly giving the expected driving pleasure for mom or dad.

The 2 Series Active Tourer features a compact footprint of 4556 mm x 1800 mm wide. It manages to pack seven seats, and a flexible luggage compartment, expandable from 645 to 805 liters.

With the rear-seat backrests folded, the Active Tourer can swallow 1905 liters of cargo. The second row can slide fore and aft, and the split backrest folds in three sections with 40:20:40 ratio.

The second row can accommodate three child seats, for those prolific couples out there.

The BMW 2 Series Gran Tourer will be powered by turbocharged engines to maximize both efficiency and responsiveness.

The interior will feature premium trim and multiple storage compartments. Active driver assist features

The new MPV will be the centerpiece of this weekend’s leg of the BMW Roadshow. Asian Carmakers Corporation (ACC), the official importer and distributor of BMW in the country, will be holding the event on Oct. 27 to 29 at the North Court of Power Plant Mall in Makati.

Also to be featured is the all-new 5 Series luxury sedan, dubbed the Ultimate Business Athlete.

“Over the years, BMW has consistently spread joy through industry-leading vehicles as well as unique customer experiences. We are proud to host a four-weekend exhibition that will further promote our promise of Sheer Driving Pleasure to the discerning motoring public, and of course, our loyal clientele,” said ACC president Maricar Parco.

The second row can take three child seats.

Exciting events for all family members will be at the roadshow. BMW will display its Lifestyle Collection, comprised of BMW apparel and accessories. There will also be a Remote Control Car Zone and Kiddie Dome with art and crafts activities.

For buyers perhaps seeking to beat the excise tax increase, a special deal awaits Citi credit cardholders with the exclusive 0 percent PayLite program. Every purchase made during any of the four BMW Roadshow weekends, Citi credit cardholders can convert their single-receipt transaction of up to P100,000 to a 0 percent interest payment term for a three-month period.

BMW invites everyone to visit and enjoy the BMW Roadshow 2017 on Oct. 27 to 29 at the North Court, Power Plant Mall, Makati, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., daily.

Catch the succeeding exhibitions on Nov. 10 to 12, 16 to 19, and 24 to 26 in select venues across the metro. To know more about the event, simply visit the BMW Philippines Facebook page.
