Coventry Motors bets on premium luxury vehicle segment
Two of the most luxurious and iconic European automotive brands are officially back in the country after Jaguar and Land Rover Asia Pacific Importers recently signed a binding contract with newly established Coventry Motors Corporation as the exclusive importers of Jaguar and Land Rover automobiles for the Philippine market.
According to Robin Colgan, managing director of Asia Pacific Importers, “This is a critical milestone for our growth in the Asia Pacific region. The Philippines’ robust growth of 6.9 percent in the last quarter—which has surpassed that of even China—is a clear indication that this is a market that holds remarkable promise and potential for quality premium cars that will meet the needs of a sophisticated and developed consumer base.
“To this end, we will be launching a series of award-winning new models that we know will resonate with the Philippine market. We are indeed very pleased to commence our formal relationship with Coventry Motors as we strongly believe in their capability to make incredible headway in growing the Jaguar and Land Rover brands and market share in the Philippines.”
In return, Conventry Motors’ chairman George Barcelon expressed his excitement regarding this significant development, and said “Both the Jaguar and Land Rover brands are taking the rest of the automotive world by storm with cutting-edge technology and fresh, dynamic designs that have resulted in incredible year-on-year growth in sales.
“We believe that by working closely together with Jaguar Land Rover Asia Pacific, we can bring new life and innovation to the Philippine automotive industry.”
At the helm of Jaguar and Land Rover’s new thrust in the Philippines is Coventry Motors’ newly appointed president, Gerardo Fajardo, himself an automotive industry veteran with exceptional management experience.
To commemorate the momentous contract signing, Coventry Motors’ first official model release was presented to the media, the all-new Range Rover Velar, a stunning nameplate in the Range Rover lineup that sits between the Evoque and Range Rover Sport.
The Velar fully embodies the brand’s signature levels of luxury, refinement and high performance never before seen in the mid-size SUV segment.
The handsome F Type R was also on display for Jaguar.
Coventry Motors has already begun with the groundwork to revitalize Jaguar and Land Rover in the Philippines.
Its first dealer is expected to be announced soon, and its pilot dealership to be inaugurated by early 2018.
