The Porsche 911 RSR

Porsche Design introduces its new chronograph timepieces using its in-house Werk 01.200 movement, introduced by Porsche Design in 2017. The chronograph calibre is certified by a COSC (the Official Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute) certificate, features a flyback mechanism. In racing, this complex additional function is crucial, since it allows the measurement of successive intervals, for example, with lap times or pit stops. Ticking at 4 Hz, the automatic movement is the result of the brand’s engineering and horological competence and the transfer of intelligent technologies from racecar development.

The Monobloc Actuator Chronotimer Flyback Limited Edition

Porsche Design continues the success story of its cooperation with Porsche Motorsport. As the official timing partner of the Porsche Motorsport GT Team, Porsche Design presents two new versions of its innovative Monobloc Actuator watch. The Monobloc Actuator Chronotimer Flyback Limited Edition is limited to 251 watches, which represents the 251 cm wheelbase of the Porsche 911 RSR. Both technically and visually, this chronograph timepiece reflects a deep connection to the world of motorsport. The matte-black carbon dial, inspired by components of the GT Team’s racing car, is reminiscent of its color composition – black, red, grey and white. The technology for the chronograph function originates from the high-performance engine concept of the Porsche 911 RSR.

With the introduction of the Monobloc Actuator Collection in 2017, Porsche Design introduced a highly innovative and entirely new watch concept. Instead of using two standard push-pieces on the side of the case to trigger the stopwatch functions, like a conventional chronograph, the Monobloc Actuator’s chronograph functions are set into motion by a single pressure-operated rocker switch, which is integrated into the case. In fact, the stopwatch function of this chronograph, which is pressure-resistant up to 10 bar, is operational underwater.

Porsche Design Chronotimer Flyback Special Edition

Porsche Design Chronotimer Flyback Special Edition

The new Chronotimer Flyback Special Edition is driven by the same Werk 01.200 mechanical-flyback-chronograph COSC certified movement. This Special Edition watch complements the exclusive Porsche Design Chronotimer Collection, which currently consists of thirteen different models. Each of these timepieces is the hallmark for precision and functionality in the field of sports watches.

The 42-mm diameter timepiece is water-resistant to five bar, features an innovative titanium case with a black titanium carbide-coating. A further tribute to motorsport and lightweight construction, the watch also utilizes a matte-black carbon dial reminiscent of Porsche instrument gauges. The stop-second hand and the rings around the chronograph push pieces are designed using red to distinguish the stop-function from the regular time indication, in order to increase the overall functionality.

Porsche Design 1919 Chronotimer Flyback Brown & Leather

Porsche Design expands its 1919 Collection timepiece series with this innovative flyback chronograph. Powered by the same Porsche Design calibre Werk 01.200 manufacture movement with flyback function as the previous models, the 1919 Chronotimer Flyback Brown & Leather visually delivers with its well-appointed, harmonious design, which is well-thought-out down to the smallest detail, including its chic brown color scheme. The timepiece, inspired by the purist design and functional aesthetics of the Porsche 911, thoughtfully complements the distinct watch collection. The collection, which raises the bar for sporty, yet elegant timepieces, is currently available in four versions.

In order to intuitively display the time from every angle, the radius of the dial is as large as possible. With this task in mind, designers of the Studio F. A. Porsche created a notably slim titanium case with bold minute indices positioned on the outer edges of the dial, foregoing a tachymeter bezel. The well-balanced design gives a unique visual-lightness to the watch, which is further enhanced by the elegantly proportioned strap. Here too, the creative process was a result of functional requirements: lugs are entirely integrated into the strap in order to achieve significantly more ergonomic stability, and through uniform force distribution. The deep brown hue lends the 1919 Chronotimer Flyback Brown & Leather a decidedly contemporary touch, without compromising its timeless characteristics.
