A friend once urged me, that if the car you are thinking of buying a car comes in the GT trim, buy it, you will not regret it.
The 2018 Volkswagen Golf GTS TDI, has all the bells and whistles that one needs in a daily driver and a weekend getaway car. It has more room than your average compact sedan; trunk space that rivals an SUV, plus the riding comfort normally reserved in more expensive vehicles.
Under the hood, the GTS boasts of an in-line 4 cylinder, 2 liter, Common Rail Turbo Direct Injection Diesel engine, with 150horses, and 340 Nm of torque. This front wheel drive Estate has a 6 speed DSG gearbox, (the DSG or Direct Shift Gearbox, is an automated transmission that can change gears faster than any other geared transmission). The Golf GTS is EURO 5 compliant, with a 50L fuel tank that offers a driving range of about 900 kms. On the outside, the front facia is both stunning and elegant, nothing over the top crazy; flowing body lines visually appeals to everyone who sees the car up close.
The rear boot opens up using the large VW emblem. Back strains will be a thing of the past with the Golf allowing low, easy access to the trunk space. Luggage space is big enough for a full sized bag, a carry on, a large gym bag and even a cooler. A retractable skirt/cover can hold light materials above the bags to ensure it is within easy reach.
Safety is always on the top of mind for VW engineers; and ACC or adaptive cruise control comes in handy in your long drives. Once engaged, the car’s sensors will alert you immediately once a vehicle appears in front, the Golf will slow down and will only speed up once you have changed lanes or the vehicle in front moves further away. Airbags are standard, with the deployment of the passenger side airbag turned off once the seat is vacant.
The GTS comes equipped with a 12-way power adjustable heated seat, yes, you read right, heated seats. You might scoff at the notion of using heated seats in Manila, but, when your daily drive is an hour minimum, you would relish the warmth it offers to alleviate your back strain. The infotainment system has CD, Radio, MP3, USB, Aux-in, & Bluetooth connectivity. Fender is the sound system of choice for the GTS. A Keyless-Go entry/exit with safelock comes standard.
The VW tag line “Your drive just got better” was conceived with the Golf GTS in mind.
