United Asia Automotive Group, Inc. (UAAGI), the exclusive distributor of Foton vehicles in the Philippines, formally opened its second dealership in Cebu, this time in Talisay south of Cebu last June 26, 2018.

The first Cebu dealership was inaugurated in 2013 and is located in Mandaue.

The Queen City of the South is the country’s most active market in the Visayas-Mindanao area in terms of trade and industry as Cebu is the regional hub for shipping serving many nearby provinces, as well as a business hotspot for BPO services, tourism, retail and heavy industries that requires passenger vans, light and heavy duty commercial vehicles.

The 2,400-sqm dealership is split into two areas that serve its passenger vehicle segment, and light- and heavy-duty truck showrooms and service bays.

The area for the truck showroom though is still currently under construction and is set to open by later part of this year.

Foton Talisay Cebu dealer principal Markane Goho said, “On behalf of the Gateway Group, I would like to thank UAAGI for granting us this dealership. We are dazed with the brand’s extensive product line up and we are confident that these vehicles will surely provide first-rate mobility solutions for various types of businesses and organizations here in Cebu. With the strong economic investors’ confidence level, more projects and infrastructures are being developed in our locality—a great opportunity to market Foton’s products and services.”

UAAGI took the opportunity to launch the all-new Tornado M light duty truck and introduce the new model to the southern market.

Powered by the new and advanced ISF 3.8 Foton Cummins Blue Energy Euro 4 engine, Tornado M represents a new generation of Foton trucks that uses the safety features and technologies for other new models to be introduced in the market soon.

“We will continue to offer our growing line-up of vehicles, and provide Southern Cebu with excellent customer service with the same dedication that we’ve embossed in our existing 25 dealer network across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao,” Foton Philippines president Rommel Sytin said.

“To the men and women of Gateway Group, I’m hoping that this will be a fruitful and long term partnership,” he added.

Earlier this year, Foton Philippines reported a year-on-year sales growth of 12.2 percent in May, and is the only Chinese auto maker brand to make it to the top 10 leading brands in the market for the same month.

The growing number of dealerships and consistent dealer support and customer service have largely contributed to its growth in sales and market share in the country.

Sytin also announced that for the last quarter, Foton will have a new dealership in Bohol and in Sasa, Davao, also under the management of Gateway Group.
