Chopard celebrates Porsche’s new record at Nürburgring

“Adversity causes some men to break; others break records”, these words ring true for one Timo Bernhard, who just obliterated the lap record at the Nurburgring’s Nordschleife.  Porsche Motorsports and its timekeeping partner Chopard, shared in this momentous record breaking feat by Timo Bernhard at the legendary track through the Eifel forests, also known as the “green hell”.

On board the Porsche 919 Hybrid Evo, Bernhard went about setting the a time of 5:19.55 seconds around the 20.832 km track, eclipsing the previous time set by Stefan Bellof.

Passion for achievement, glory of victory, innovation, and men who basically love a challenge, has brought forth the partnership that binds Maison Chopard and Porsche Motorsports, and since 2014, the union has spawned numerous successes.

On the north loop of the Nordschleife, German Timo Bernhard, a 2-time winner of the “24 Hours of Le Mans”, took the wheel of the super powerful Porsche 919 Hybrid Evo, driving the 20.832 km track in just 5:19.55 seconds. Bernhard took to the task while using a Superfast Power Control Porsche 919 HF Edition wristwatch by Chopard.

With this latest achievement, Porsche’s reputation for excellence and record breaking feats remains intact. The Porsche 919 Hybrid, as its name would suggest, is an evolution of the prototype developed by Porsche Motorsport for the LMP1 category of the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC). Porsche enjoyed multiple wins with its participation in the WEC, including there consecutive wins in both driver and manufacturer titles at the “24 Hours of Le Mans” (2015-2017)
