Foton introduces an industry-first EC Mobile Service Truck program
United Asia Automotive Group, Inc. (UAAGI), the official distributor of Foton vehicles in the Philippines announced an innovative after-sales service feature to strenghten its capability and reach by coming up with an industry-first mobile service program for Foton customers who have a hard time having their units serviced in their respective dealers. Dubbed as the “EC Mobile Service Truck Program,” highly trained and authorized mechanics using specialized shop tools and genuine parts are on call to provide quality service to a growing number of customers. “We are aware that not all our customers are in close proximity to a dealership,” said UAAGI president Rommel Sytin. “That is a pain point we want to address with this new and timely service.”
While most dealerships from other brands have some form of after sales service vehicle, or even a flat bed or a tow truck, it will be the first time a local manufacturer has come up with a fully equipped mobile service truck that is fitted out with a complete set of shop tools, spare parts bin, air compressor, diagnostic equipment and even a power generator in case there is no access to AC power. The EC Mobile Truck is a fully customized Foton Tornado light duty truck with a customized body accommodating a service office that has all the essential tools to be able to perform Preventive Maintenance Schedule (PMS) and other repairs.
The 3.5-kilowatt generator set is powerful enough to supply electric power to tools such as a 1.5 HP air compressor, an impact wrench used for making tire changes and other power tools. Its two large capacity oil pans are used to avoid spilling of used oil which are then transferred to the built-in used oil depository tanks when performing PMS and is completely self-sufficient.
For individual dealerships, the EC Mobile Service Truck effectively extends their service range. “We believe that people needn’t be inconvenienced unnecessarily by having to bring to their FOTON vehicles to the shop for preventive maintenance work or repair,” added Sytin. “And this opens doors for our dealers as well to realize even greater business by freeing up workshop space at the dealerships themselves.”
These trucks will soon be available in Foton dealerships and are designed with a swing-up canopy and dropside panel which functions as a working bench, and it comes with two sets of 220-volt outlets, highly polished anti-skid flooring, and even a first-aid cabinet. Its mechanics can perform repairs even at night with the supplied spotlights.
“For now, only select FOTON dealerships are exclusively offering this new aftersales service, but the motoring public can expect that the EC Mobile Service will be available at the rest of our dealership network across the country soon,” added Sytin.
For Foton customers, specially who are its commercial vehicle buyers, down time can be very costly and troublesome for its operations. Enterprises and corporations which rely heavily on logistics cannot afford long down times which leads to operational losses. For fleet customers, they just need to identify a dedicated and schedule a servicing day when the EC mobile service truck and its crew can go to their location. For individual passenger vehicle owners, they can likewise avail of the service at their convenience.
This innovative program comes after the introduction of another aftersales program, the EC (Easy and Convenient) Genuine Parts where customers may inquire and order accurate parts for their Foton vehicle through a hotline number (0999-999-9996). With the EC Genuine Parts program, parts accessibility is made easier by getting in touch with a representative and having parts inquiries answered via calls/sms. Customers have direct access to Foton’s parts service center and can accurately find the right parts and have the ease of having the parts claimed at the nearest FOTON dealership in their location.
