Philippine International Motor show through the years

1st Philippine International Motor Show: the start of it all, with the theme Shifting to Higher Gear. The industry then was celebrating as it surpassed the 100,000 unit sale mark

2nd Philippine International Motor Show- in August 2008, President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo presented an opening speech, welcoming 15 auto brands to the exhibit hall. Arroyo hailed the show as being in line with her Green Philippines Program

The 3rd PIMS was in August 2010. 15 brand were in the exhibit: Asian Carmakers Corporation; CATS Motors, Inc.; Columbian Autocar Corporation; Focus Ventures, Inc.; Honda Cars Philippines, Inc.; Hyundai Asia Resources, Inc.; Isuzu Philippines Corporation; Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation; Nissan Motors Philippines, Inc.; PGA Cars, Inc.; Scandinavian Motors Corporation; Suzuki Philippines, Inc.; The Covenant Car Company, Inc.; Toyota Motor Philippines Corporation and Universal Motors Corporation.

4th PIMS – hundreds of car enthusiasts trekked to the World Trade Center to see the new cars. Drive the Fun was the theme, partly to complement the Department of Tourism’s then “It’s More Fun in the Philippines” campaign.

5th PIMS in September 2014 saw 16 automotive brands: BAIC, BMW, Daewoo, Honda, Isuzu, JMC, Kia, Lexus, Mazda, Mercedes Benz, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Peugeot, Suzuki, Toyota, and Volkswagen. The theme was “Progress in Motion,” focusing on the local automotive industry’s role in propelling the country toward greater mobility and economic growth. The previous year, 2013, saw the car industry breach the 200,000 unit sales level.

6th PIMS- in September 2016, Senator Ralph Recto was Guest of Honor. In his speech, he highlighted the need to combat the worsening traffic, as well as acknowledged the shortfall of vehicle license plates and driver’s license cards.
