Isuzu technicians win anew in Grand Prix World Competition
A team of service technicians from Isuzu Philippines was again declared the grand champion in the recently concluded Isuzu I-1 Grand Prix World Technical Competition held last Dec. 6 at the Isuzu Monozukuri Service Training Center in Fujisawa, Japan.
The Isuzu Philippine team is composed of technicians and Isuzu Tesda graduates Jusua Cantre from Isuzu Bulacan, Khent John Ventura from Isuzu Cavite, and coach Gian Franco Cosico from IPC.
The Isuzu Ph Team, declared winner in the Category B: Euro 4 and below Emission Class Regulation, says they are just continuing the winning streak of being among the world’s best in service skills and technical knowledge.
“Team Pilipinas’ inspiring performance at the recent Isuzu I-1 Grand Prix World Technical Competition serves to reinforce Isuzu Philippines Corp.’s reputation as a world-class workforce. The teams we sent in this annual event have been consistent winners since 2013, and though there is always room to be even better than before, it cannot be denied that the training our technicians receive, combined with their dedication to their chosen craft, has made Team Pilipinas and IPC the standard bearers in the world stage. At the same time, I am also very happy that our teams’ achievements in this competition in the past years have served to inspire members of our dealership network in the Philippines to strive to be the best in their own capacities,” says IPC president Hajime Koso.
Annual competition
The I-1 Grand Prix World Technical Competition is an annual competition for technicians coming from different Isuzu subsidiaries and operations worldwide. This is the search for Isuzu’s number one (hence the “I-1” initials) in service skills and automotive knowledge.
Isuzu’s Team Pilipinas bested 70 other technicians from 35 countries from across Isuzu’s global dealership network.
The competition is divided into two divisions: the LCV and CV Division. The LCV Division competition was held last September, wherein Isuzu Philippines placed fourth.
For the CV Division, it is further divided into two categories, Category A: Euro 6 Emission Class Regulation, and Category B: Euro 4 and below Emission Class Regulation.
Since 2013, Isuzu Philippines’ team has consistently placed fifth or higher in the Isuzu World Technical Competition.
Koso says: “A large part of our success has been attributed to the high level of competition at IPC’s annual Isuzu Service Skills Olympics, apart from the professional dedication and discipline the IPC dealers’ parts and service personnel pour into their daily work.
Isuzu’s Team Pilipinas had been awarded third in the CV Division Category B in 2013, second in 2014, first in 2015, third in 2016, and fifth in 2017.
