BMW PH launches all-new X5

BMW Philippines, aka SMC Asia Car Distributors Corp., has launched the all-new X5 SUV. The X5 is powered by a robust six-cylinder diesel engine, with 265hp and 620Nm. The X5 is capable of the 0-100kph run in 6.5 seconds. Here’s the news from BMW:

SMC Asia Car Distributors Corp., the official importer and distributor of BMW in the Philippines, continues the success story of the BMW X5 as it makes the newest generation available to the local market. The fourth iteration of the BMW X5 embodies this model’s typical characteristics – versatility, sovereignty and luxury. And it is competing in a market segment that also promises growth rates of more than 20 percent for the third decade in the history of the Sports Activity Vehicle.

The all-new model comes in a sole variant – the BMW X5 xDrive30d xLine.

A new breed of grandeur

The all-new BMW X5 retains the hallmark proportions of an SAV, but its pared-back design language – clean surfacing and precise lines accentuating the car’s robustness, poise, and authority – is new.

Distinctive design features mark out the xLine variant of the all-new BMW X5. At the front end, the vehicle features an enlarged one-piece BMW kidney grille, in Aluminium satinated, that is complemented by the distinctive dual LED headlights.

The xLine model also uses exterior cues including an underguard, roof rails and side window surrounds in Aluminium satinated, plus other accents in Pearl-effect Chrome, to accentuate the off-road character of the all-new BMW X5.

The precise character line in the car’s flanks, which rises up at the rear door, is key to the modern appearance of the all-new BMW X5. It also defines the car’s strikingly powerful shoulders and feeds into the rear lights (likewise LED units), which extend well into the flanks. The three-dimensional design of their glass covers lends the rear lights a sculpted, technical edge.

The all-new BMW X5 comes with 20-inch light-alloy wheels in V-spoke design, as standard.

The power of more.

Inside the all-new BMW X5, the clear structure of the instrument panel and center console radiates a feeling of space. The raised seating position, a new design for the instrument cluster and Control Display, and the cutting-edge display and control concept optimize the driver’s ability to maintain control over the vehicle.

The front and rear occupants all enjoy ample accommodation amid an exclusive ambience. The carefully selected materials in the interior include the new Vernasca variant for the standard leather upholstery. Other new features designed to maximize well-being on board the all-new BMW X5 include comfort seats, cooled/heated cupholders, Ambient Light, and the Harman Kardon Sound System.

The new BMW Operating System 7.0 display and control concept that is also in this latest generation of the BMW X5, focuses on optimizing attention control. With its clear presentation and structuring, plus customizable and personalized displays, it sets out to provide drivers with the right information at the right time. In its standard application underpinning the BMW Live Cockpit Professional system, it comprises an instrument cluster and a Control Display (both 12.3-inch). These present their information fully digitally and in a consistent design. Multimodal interaction allows the driver to use the steering wheel buttons, iDrive Controller, the touchscreen display, voice control or BMW gesture control, as they prefer.

In the rear, folding down the 40 : 20 : 40 split rear seat backrest increases boot capacity from 650 litres to a maximum 1,860 litres. The all-new BMW X5 also has a two-section tailgate for ease of loading. Comfort Access is specified in which both sections can be opened and closed automatically and hands-free.

The all-new BMW X5 is being launched with one diesel representative from the latest generation of engines. A six-cylinder in-line unit can also be found under the bonnet of the BMW X5 xDrive30d xLine. The engine with the award-winning BMW TwinPower Turbo technology channels its power through an eight-speed Steptronic transmission, while BMW xDrive intelligent all-wheel drive is on hand to ensure that power is translated into secure progress – on or off road.

The all-new BMW X5 xDrive30d xLine completes the 0 to 100 km/h sprint in just 6.5 seconds. The engine’s peak torque of 620 Newton metres can be summoned up over a broad rev range from 2,000 to 2,500 rpm, while its maximum output of 195 kW/265 hp is on tap between 4,000 rpm.

The all-new BMW X5 xDrive30d xLine is available at Php 5,990,000.00. The vehicle will come with a 5-year warranty (BMW Repair Inclusive), a first in the premium automotive segment.

The BMW Repair Inclusive includes repairs that are completed at authorized BMW facilities using only original BMW parts to help protect both performance and the automobile’s value.
