Motul’s exotic cars at MIAS 2019

Every year at the Manila International Auto Show (MIAS), the Autoplus display is a must-see and must-visit showcase for car enthusiasts and aficionados. Their displays have always been a popular attraction because of its well-curated, themed supercar display. Last year’s display was no different. Five limited edition Mercedes-Benz 4×4 Squared G-Wagon’s of various colors were displayed.

It’s not only because of its 8-digit price tag, but the Mercedes-Benz 4×4 Squared series is a special edition of the W-463 Mercedes-Benz G-Class with special portal gear axles and larger wheels and tires, designed for increased off-road capabilities. Aside from a higher ground clearance than the “regular” G-Wagons, this edition features wider tracks and is fitted with a V-8 twin turbo engine that combines tough off-road specifications and sportscar-like performance.

This year, Autoplus continues its tradition of raising the bar by showcasing a new batch of specially curated supercars. Owned by businessman Carlos Gono of Autoplus, the local distributor of French lubricant brand Motul in the country, the Motul booth will display the Lotus Exige V6 Cup and the McLaren 570S GT4, plus another surprise race-inspired supercar that will be revealed during the show.

The Lotus Exige V6 Cup is a race version of the Exige two-door sports car built by Lotus Cars since the early 2000s. This track-oriented version was first launched in 2012 and has the same engine as the Exige S, but the V6 Cup variant differs in its bespoke exterior and interior trims, and its trim is a more race track-focused set up.

The McLaren 570S was first unveiled at the 2015 New York International Auto show. Engineered and built to be at par with its Italian competitors from Maranello, the 570S is powered by a 3.8 liter V8 used by its 650S and P1 siblings. It is light and has a power rating of 562 horsepower with 443 lb-ft of torque. All that power is transferred down to its four wheels by a seven-speed dual clutch transmission developed by Graziano Transmissioni propelling it from 0-100 km/h in 3.2 seconds.
