MIAS celebrates Fun and Function on its 15th year

By Jason K. Ang Philippine Daily Inquirer April 04,2019

The 15th edition of the annual Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) rolls out on April 4-7, 2019 at the World Trade Center. This year’s theme is Fun and Function, highlighting vehicles that are both practical to own and exciting to drive.

MIAS 2019 will feature more than 30,000 square meters of indoor and outdoor exhibition areas, including the World Trade Center main hall and annex tent, as well as two custom-built tents to house the aftermarket and truck pavilions. Last year, MIAS welcomed more than 138,000 visitors, up by 7.8 percent compared to the previous year, and this was despite the challenging year for the automotive industry.

Commenting on the growth in visitor traffic, Jill Ang, the Managing Director of Worldbex Services International, organizers of the MIAS, said that the buoyant economy has helped sustain the increase in visitor traffic over the years. “Because of this, our exhibitors also continue to support our show and make sure they come up with their best exhibits and use the show as a venue for their new model debuts and launches,” she adds.

MIAS will once again be the venue of the Petron-MIAS Custom Classic Car Competition with classic and custom cars vying for top honors, and competing for the best-of-show and other category wins.  The Automobile Association of the Philippines (AAP) will be holding its annual Driver of the Year gala awards on the opening day of the MIAS, honoring the country’s top drivers in various motorsport disciplines.  AAP is the country’s oldest and biggest auto club founded in 1931, and is a non-stock and non-profit organization committed to the general welfare of motorists, promoting road safety motor sports and championing green mobility in the Philippines.

Various exhibitors will be offering special deals during MIAS. Shell will be showcasing its Helix Ultra synthetic motor oils with PurePlus technology and proprietary Active Cleansing Technology. Shell will be offering 20% discount on select Helix products during the event.

For the 8th consecutive year, BPI Auto Loans is the presentor and the official auto financing partner of the MIAS. BPI Family will offer promos in the event for people who want to buy cars on the spot and with easy and hassle-free credit application. Particular promos will be available for its Ayala Automotive affiliates: Honda, Isuzu, Volkswagen, Kia, and KTM. Exciting promos will be on hand, including an exclusive discount for the Isuzu Mu-X with a P250,000, or a P150,000 discount with a free KTM Duke200 motorcycle.

MIAS started out in 2005, with about 8,000 square meters of indoor exhibition and 3,000 square meters of outdoor space. Since then, MIAS has grown steadily in size and visitor count. The show has become an annual venue for car brands to launch new models and introduce new concepts to the Philippine car market.

With its initiative to support Philippine motoring, MIAS has been a partner of various organizations like the AAP, the Car Awards Group, Inc. (CAGI), and TRS (Tuason Racing School), a staunch advocate of road safety.

Four buildings in one show, MIAS has appended to the World Trade Center Metro Manila (WTCMM) standard exhibition, its own custom-built tents to house the aftermarket area and a dedicated truck pavilion. Exhibitors specializing in trucks have clamored for a separate area to display their new and specialized models.

Visit the Manila International Auto Show from April 4 to 7, with show hours from 10am to 10pm daily (Thursday to Sunday) at the World Trade Center. Entrance ticket to the show is P100, with a 20% discount for senior citizens.
