All-New Brio RS

Honda has launched the all-new Brio. It’s aimed at customers who want a small and affordable hatchback, but one that’s not necessarily compromised when it comes to style, comfort, and safety.

What is it?
The new Brio is the second generation of Honda’s A-segment hatchback. Honda is aiming for sportier style and more interior space than the car’s predecessor, while keeping the affordability that’s necessary in this segment.

Engine and transmission
The Brio is powered by a new 1.2-liter four-cylinder engine with an SOHC i-VTEC valvetrain. The output is 90ps at 6000rpm and 110Nm of torque. There’s a choice of 5-speed manual transmission or a continuously variable transmission (CVT).

Styling
For the Brio, Honda followed the concept of “Proud Over Class.” This signifies the company’s intent to position the hatchback slightly upmarket over its competitors, particularly with the way the car looks. The Brio borrows liberally from the design cues of its bigger sibling, the Jazz. This is a good thing, as the beady headlamps, jutting bumper, and upwardly-swept door lines translate well to the smaller package.

There’s a honeycomb front grille and multi-reflector halogen headlights with LED park lights up front. The rear sees a more conventional hatch in place of the previous car’s all-glass panel. Large combination lamps complete the rear look.

Interior
The all-new Brio benefits from a 60-mm longer wheelbase, and 90mm extended cargo area. There’s now a bigger rear seat with more kneeroom. Cargo space is 258 liters with the rear seats up. The hatchback configuration makes loading easier, particularly with the rear seats are folded. Cargo space then is 710 liters, making the Brio more versatile for hauling stuff, despite its compact footprint.

Convenience Features
Honda Brio features manual airconditioning with digital display. The audio head unit is a 7-inch touchscreen for the higher 1.2 CVT variant, and a 1-DIN audio head unit for the 1.2 S MT. Both feature Bluetooth connectivity or USB port.

RS Variant
As with most of the other cars in its stable, Honda will be offering an RS variant of the Brio. The Brio RS will feature piano black front grille, 15-inch alloy wheels, side sill garnish and rear bumper garnish, and tailgate spoiler.

The interior features black fabric seats with orange accents, with orange accents on the dashboard and door trim. There’s also an upgraded audio system with 7-inch touchscreen control, and a six speaker (including two added tweeters) system.

A two-tone Black Top RS with Phoenix Orange Pearl color scheme will be available.

Safety
The Honda Brio achieved a four-star ASEAN NCAP safety rating and includes the company’s G-Force Control (G-CON) technology that helps dissipate collision impacts. All variants will include dual front SRS airbags and ABS brakes.
