PORSCHE in mid-April introduced the Cayenne Coupe at Auto Shanghai 2019. Launched at the time were the Cayenne Coupe with a 355hp six-cylinder engine and the Cayenne Turbo Coupe with a 542hp V8. Porsche said both variants will already be available at dealerships starting end-May.
Now, the carmaker announced it has added a third variant — the Cayenne S Coupe — which can now be ordered by customers. The latest version is set to arrive at Porsche dealerships in Germany at the end of July.
Chiefly distinguishing the Cayenne S Coupe from the two earlier-announced variants is its 2.9-liter V6 engine that, with twin turbochargers, produces 434hp and 550Nm of torque. This output, combined with Porsche’s Sport Chrono Package, can propel the vehicle from rest to 100kph in 5.0 seconds. Three optional lightweight sports packages can reduce this figure to 4.9 seconds. In any case, top speed is pegged at 263kph.
Along with the Sports Chrono Package, also standard to the Cayenne S Coupe are the brand’s speed-sensitive Power Steering Plus, 20-inch alloy wheels, Park Assist at the front and rear including reversing camera, and Porsche Active Suspension Management, among other features.
Meanwhile, identifying the Cayenne Coupe from the Cayenne are its sharper proportions and a “fastback” rear, an adaptive rear spoiler, a panoramic fixed glass or contoured carbon-fiber roof, and a stance lower by 30 millimeters.
Coupe really does become the Cayenne.
