TRUCK body maker Centro Manufacturing Corp. bared it built the body of the Fuso Canter modern PUV recently launched by Sojitz Fuso Philippines.
Sojitz Fuso Philippines is now the country’s distributor of Fuso trucks and buses.
The two new Fuso models launched were the Canter Commuter Class 2 and Canter Express Class 3 modern PUVs. Both vehicles are powered by Euro4 diesel engines and comply with the Bureau of Philippine Standards PNS 2126:2017 covering body dimensions for modern PUVs.
According to Centro, Fuso intends the vehicles to participate in the Philippines’ PUV Modernization Program which seeks to replace some 200,000 jeepneys in the next six years.
Centro noted bank financing for PUVs, along with an P80,000 government subsidy per vehicle, has made modern PUVs more accessible to operators and drivers belonging in transport cooperatives.
“We congratulate Sojitz Fuso Philippines for being appointed the new distributor of Fuso in the Philippines and for proactively joining the PUV Modernization Program of the Philippines. We at Centro wish to say that we are behind Sojitz Fuso Philippines all the way as we usher in the new era of public transport and modern logistics in the Philippines,” said Centro president Raphael Juan.
