THE first leg of the Vios Racing Festival 2019 will be held on June 8 at the Clark International Speedway in Pampanga.
According to organizer Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP), the upcoming event marks the return of the one-make race series to its “roots.”
It added the event will feature two race formats: a timed autocross through an obstacle course and wheel-to-wheel circuit racing. The circuit championship is divided into three categories, namely the Sporting Class, Promotional Class and Celebrity Class.
“It’s the first time that the new [Toyota] Vios model will be tested at the racetracks since its debut as a pace car in 2018’s Filinvest leg [of the race series]. We made sure that aside from speed, the Vios is also built for precision and safety,” said TMP vice-president Elijah Marcial.
TMP said the Vios racecar has been modified for optimum handling and performance given that it would have to tackle two different race formats.
The Vios Racing Festival is open to the public — admission is free. It is going to be held in cooperation with Bridgestone and is supported by Petron, Motul and Rota. Its other sponsors are Brembo, Denso, AVT, 3M, OMP and Tuason Racing.
