Hyundai displays modern PUV at LTO Motor Show

A HYUNDAI H-100 light truck built as a Class 1 modern PUV was one of two vehicles Hyundai Asia Resources, Inc. (HARI) displayed at the recent LTO Motor Show held to celebrate the agency’s 107th anniversary.

The other model displayed by the carmaker was the Hyundai Reina, which HARI said “suit[s] the needs of Transport Network Vehicle Service operators.”

HARI president and CEO Ma. Fe Perez-Agudo said Hyundai supports the government’s plan to modernize public transport in the Philippines through vehicles “best-suited to solve the Filipinos’ mass transport or business needs.”

HARI said the H-100 PUV differs from other Class 1 PUVs because it uses a light truck platform rather than a multicab chassis as its base. This allows the H-100 PUV a higher loading capacity and more space, according to the company, which noted the model is safer, too.

The H-100 has a Euro4-compliant 2.5-liter CRDi diesel engine. As a Class 1 modern PUV it can seat 13 passengers and features a cashless payment system, side-facing seats, WiFi, an LCD monitor, GPS tracking, CCTV cameras and a speed limiter.

The Reina is powered by a 1.4-liter, 94hp gasoline engine that can be matched to either a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic transmission. HARI said the car posted a 25.8 kilometer-per-liter result in a fuel economy testing it conducted. This fuel efficiency, along with the car’s space and safety and convenience features, makes it suitable for public transport services.
