Shopping for the perfect travel ootd at Taytay Tiangge with the new Ford Ecosport
When shopping for the perfect travel OOTD, what can P700 get you? At the Taytay Tiangge in Rizal, a lot, apparently.
On board the new EcoSport, Ford recently challenged several media participants to level up their fashion game in a fun and easy activity, asking the motoring reporters (including this writer) to pick out the best outfit for a road trip.
With the P700 cash allowance, the participants scoured the increasingly popular Taytay Tiangge, which is home to hundreds of dressmakers who used to rent space in Baclaran, Divisoria, and Greenhills. The local government put up this initiative in 2014 so these entrepreneurs could showcase their goods without the need to go elsewhere.
Since then, the Taytay Tiangge has become a shopper’s paradise, showing why Rizal has been known as the Garments Capital of the Philippines.
As expected, the Ford EcoSport delivered, proving to be a great shopping companion. The drive from Taguig to Taytay was seamless, squeezing the EcoSport’s compact body in a busy parking spot was a breeze, and there were plenty of space for shopping bags at the back. The trunk is spacious enough to accommodate luggage for out of town trips-or for shopping sprees like this activity.
The EcoSport has become a familiar sight on city streets across the country since it was first launched in the country five years ago. It continues to be popular among car lovers because it features a combination of agility, affordability, and fuel efficiency of a compact car with the ground clearance, flexibility, and spaciousness of an SUV.
More powerful engine
On the drive to Taytay, the motoring press were able to test the new and more powerful 1.5L engine, which features the Twin Independent Variable Camshaft Timing (TiVCT) engine that helps improve efficiency. Together with the new 6-speed automatic transmission, this upgraded engine allows for smoother and faster acceleration.
There’s also the award-winning 1.0L EcoBoost engine, which features direct fuel injection technology and variable camshaft timing with turbocharger.
The new EcoSport’s compact size yet trendy look is ideal for maneuvering the urban landscape of Manila. It has a ground clearance of 209mm and its exterior features a refreshed grille, a new hood design, headlamps, and lightweight and extra durable 17-inch alloy wheels.
Meanwhile, its interior enhancements put driver and passenger comfort and convenience as top priority. The Titanium variant sports a more stylish design and features a leather dashboard, power sunroof, and an 8-inch multicolor touchscreen with a redesigned interface and intuitive smartphone-like actions. The Trend and Ambiente variants are equipped with a 9-inch touchscreen display.
Smarter and more technologically-advanced
The new EcoSport is equipped with the Rear View Camera with Rear Parking Assist, Rain Sensing Wipers, Automatic Headlights, and Smart Keyless Entry, which makes driving a lot more convenient and vastly safer.
It also includes Hill-Start Assist Control, Electronic Brake-force Distribution System, Electronic Stability Program and Anti-Locking Brake System, and six airbags available in all EcoSport variants.
The drive to Taytay Tiangge is one of Ford’s way of saying that discovering new places to go to is much more fun when people have a comfortable ride to take them there. And in the city, you can’t go wrong with the new EcoSport.
