BUENASHER Transport Corp., owner of the Del Carmen bus which crashed at the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) on the evening of June 28, has been ordered by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) to halt its operations until an investigation into the incident is completed.
The LTFRB issued the preventive suspension order to the bus firm on Saturday.
“The LTFRB has directed the operator to immediately suspend operation pending investigation,” LTFRB chairman Martin Delgra III said in a Viber statement issued to journalists.
“If found guilty, Buenasher Transport may face cancellation or revocation of its franchise,” the LTFRB was quoted in a Philippine Daily Inquirer report as saying.
The agency in a separate statement said the bus firm has 19 vehicles which ply the Cubao, Quezon City to Santa Maria, Bulacan route passing through NLEX.
Initial reports said at least eight people were killed and 11 were injured when the Del Carmen bus toppled over after hitting a van, which had slowed down because of heavy rains, and the concrete barrier at NLEX. The bus was traveling southward. The crash occurred in Valenzuela City.
