Check out the new Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody

July 02,2019

The 2020 Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody poses in front of its Scat Pack Widebody sibling.

THE Dodge Charger gets an expanded lineup for 2020. And by “expanded,” it means the model has new variants, one of which is literally an expanded one.

This expanded variant is the range-topping Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody, which Dodge bills as the “most powerful and fastest mass-produced sedan in the world.”

The Widebody Package, standard on the Charger SRT Hellcat and also available on the Charger Scat Pack, includes new integrated fender flares which add 3.5 inches of body width, creating an even more aggressive, planted stance. The flares make room for the wider 20-inch by 11-inch wheels wrapped with Pirelli 305/35 ZR20 tires. The larger footwear, in turn, allows for Brembo six-piston front calipers with two-piece front brake rotors and a unique suspension setup of Bilstein three-mode adaptive damping. Combined, the items deliver improved performance on the street, strip and road course.
Powering the Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody is Dodge’s supercharged 6.2-liter V8 Hemi engine that makes 707hp and 881Nm. It bolts to a TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission.

The Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody runs from zero to 100km/h in 3.6 seconds, does the quarter mile in 10.96 seconds and pulls .96g on the skidpad. These make the car the quickest and best-handling production Charger SRT Hellcat ever; it runs 2.1 seconds faster than the vehicle it replaces on a 3.38-kilometer road course. Plus, the car tops out at 315km/h.

The Charger Scat Pack variants deliver the most muscle for the buck as their V8 engines put out 485hp. An eight-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission is also matched to the engine.

The Charger Scat Pack Widebody sprints from rest to 100km/h in 4.3 seconds, takes the quarter mile in 12.4 seconds and pulls .98g on the skidpad. The Widebody variant is the quickest and best-handling production Charger Scat Pack to date.

“People say, ‘no one wants cars anymore.’ I would tell you that the 40,000 people who bought a Dodge Charger so far this year would probably agree, because to them, the Charger isn’t just a car. The Charger’s reach extends beyond body-style practicalities and it can’t be defined by average industry shifts,” says Tim Kuniskis, head of passenger cars at Dodge, SRT, Chrysler and Fiat, FCA – North America.

US Dodge and SRT dealers will accept orders for the Charger SRT Hellcat and Charger Scat Pack Widebody variants in the third quarter of the year. Deliveries will start in early 2020.
