EARLIER this year the first 2020 Toyota GR Supra to roll off the production line fetched $2.1 million (about P107.4 million) at a Barrett-Jackson auction (this car’s VIN ends in 20201; “2020” representing the year the Supra was reintroduced and “1” marking it as the first vehicle to roll off the production line).

Then a 1994 fourth-generation Supra sold for $173,600 (around P8.87 million) at an RM Sotheby’s auction. This car had only 11,200 genuine miles (18,000 kilometers) on the clock since new.

This time another fourth generation Supra, but one from 1997, with 69,891 miles (112,478 kilometers) sold at a Barrett-Jackson auction for $176,000 (around P8.99 million).

The black exterior, black interior Supra is an Anniversary Edition available only in 1997, and is one of 376 commemorative cars in black with a targa roof. It had two previous owners. It has been fitted with an aftermarket exhaust system and a lowered suspension.

No doubt, Supras are hot these days.
