BOTH the Mazda6 Sedan and Mazda6 Sports Wagon have just received new features. The sedan gets a new engine option, the sedan and wagon wear refreshed styling.
The upgrades mean the 6 range is now composed of three variants: the Sedan 2.5-Liter Skyactiv-G Turbo, Sedan 2.2-Liter Skyactiv-D and Sports Wagon 2.5-liter Skyactiv-G.
As can be noticed, new to the 6 Sedan is the SkyActiv-G 2.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine. This mill makes 228hp on regular unleaded fuel, and its top 420Nm torque output is already available at 2,000rpm. Mazda’s six-speed Skyactiv Drive automatic transmission, which has a sport mode setting, is paired with the engine. Mazda says the new powerplant has allowed the 6 Sedan an “even more rewarding driving experience.”
Among the key features in the cabin of the 6 Sedan Turbo are the deep chestnut-colored Nappa leather seats (ventilated in front), “UltraSuede” accents, Japanese Sen Wood trim and an 11-speaker Bose Premium sound system that integrates Apple CarPlay and Android Auto via the Mazda Connect system.
Mazda said the 6 Sedan Turbo also has better noise, vibration and harshness levels because of additional sound-absorbing materials and a redesigned suspension setup.
Both 6 Sedan variants — the Turbo and the Diesel — are priced at P2.250 million.
For its part, defining the refreshed 6 Sports Wagon are a new grille and 19-inch wheels.
The 6 Sports Wagon is powered by a SkyActiv-G 2.5-liter naturally aspirated engine that produces 187hp and 252Nm. It features cylinder deactivation, promising fuel-efficiency. It is paired with the six-speed Skyactiv-Drive automatic transmission.
Similar to the two Sedan variants, the 6 Sports Wagon comes standard with Nappa leather seats (ventilated in front), an eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, dual-zone climate control, remote keyless entry, push-button start, a 60/40 split-folding rear seat, cruise control, an electronic parking brake, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto Mazda Connect integration with Commander control knob and touchscreen functions, 360-degree camera, a new eight-inch display screen, and a seven-inch TFT display screen in the instrument cluster.
Adaptive LED headlights, blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert come along with lane-keep assist and lane departure warning are standard in all 6 variants.
The 6 Sports Wagon sells for P1.995 million.
