Car detailing made easy

Not all car care products are made the same. With so many car care products in the market, it is sometimes very tempting to just buy the cheapest brand and hope to get same results.  Sonax, one of the industry’s trusted professional automotive detailing and consumer car care brands in the market has been providing high quality car care products since 1950 and is considered Germany’s number one brand and has garnered numerous awards and accolades by the media and industry partners.

Last weekend, Sonax invited members of the motoring media including a number of editors to reintroduce the brand and to raise the level of awareness about the benefits of using the proper car care products to have the car exterior and interior protected from the elements.  Sonax representatives led by Werner Hoffman, Area Sales Manager for Asia-Pacific of Sonax Germany and Jeremy Ong, Sonax Asia Regional Manager. “Our goal for this event is to reintroduce the SONAX product line and to explain the DIY qualities of our product range,” explained Hoffman, who flew in just for the event.

The team held a classroom session and expanded their knowledge about the history and the unique proposition of the brand. “It is important to explain the technical aspects of our products,” said Ong.  The classroom session focused on the brands line-up, which included the Gloss Shampoo, Easy Shine, High-Speed Wax, Brilliant Shine Detailer, Xtreme Interior Cleaner, Leather Care Foam, Tire Gloss Gel and Wheel Cleaner.

After the session, the organizers of the event staged asked the participants to apply what they learned by cleaning their personal cars. This activity allowed the media to experience the DIY capabilities of the Sonax line. “It is meant to show how the right products can give you the brilliant shine results, even without having your car taken to a professional detailer,” added Ong.

Ong intimated that their brand is so safe that he even allowed his children to help wash their cars back home in Singapore, where he is based. As an OEM detailing supplier/provider of automotive brands like Mercedes Benz, BMW and Volkswagen, as well as other non-German brands like Subaru, Sonax is widely acceptable and trusted as their detailing brand of choice. “SONAX products has undergone stringent testing and each product is a result of years of research and development,” said Hoffman.

Aside from choosing the proper car care products, it has to be applied using the right applicator like microfiber cloth and the correct application sponges to avoid damaging the paint finish or creating swirl marks. Contrary to popular notion, the “wax on wax off” circular motion technique made popular by the “Karate Kid” movie is not necessarily the most effective way of cleaning and buffing your car paint finish. Usually straight left-to-right or top-to-bottom does the job with less effort and it also avoid circular swirl marks on the finish.
