A PORTION of the Skyway Stage 3 project is targeted to be opened in the next two weeks, a Radyo Inquirer report posted on July 5 said, quoting the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
The first section to be opened is the Plaza Dilao exit on Quirino Avenue in Paco, Manila, the report said. The new section will extend Skyway Stage 3’s length to four kilometers.
Skyway Stage 3 is an elevated expressway designed to cut travel time between the northern and southern portions of Metro Manila from around two hours to 20 minutes. It stretches 18.68 kilometers and is being built by San Miguel Corp.’s CITRA Central Expressway Corp. at a cost of more than P37 billion.
The DPWH on July 5 said the project is targeted to be 95% finished by the end of the year, and completed in the first quarter of 2020.
DPWH secretary Mark Villar on July 5 led the inspection of portions set to be opened before the year ends, according to a report published in Inquirer.net on the same day.
“Construction of Skyway Stage 3 is in full blast. We are working 24/7 to deliver the infrastructure this July,” Villar said in a statement, referring to the Plaza Dilao exit.
The official said the portion of the Skyway from Buendia Avenue in Makati City to Quirino Avenue in Nagtahan, Manila is already 83% finished while the section from Ramon Magsaysay Avenue in Manila to Balintawak, Quezon City is 81% complete, according to the Inquirer report.
It noted Skyway Stage 3 broke ground in 2014.
