WATCH: Hyundai targets millennials in Venue video

July 09,2019

POSTING a nearly three-minute YouTube clip is Hyundai Motor Co.’s latest move in hyping the Hyundai Venue, described by the carmaker as its “newest entry sport-utility vehicle.”

Hyundai is apparently targeting millennials and younger consumers with the Venue as the company promotes the SUV’s “urban vibes” concept. Hyundai pitches the Venue’s “youthful, attractive appeal and urbane identity” as being well suited for city lifestyle.

“As an entry SUV with a youthful spirit targeting the millennials, the Venue’s blockbuster advert tries to break stereotypes about car advertisement,” said Hyundai Motor executive vice-president and chief marketing officer Wonhong Cho. “We hope we can all enjoy Venue’s successful arrival through this unique advertising scheme.”

The video shows the Venue being flown inside a C-130 transport aircraft, then dropped on a tarmac at California’s Inyokern Airport, where it is greeted by other Hyundai SUVs.

Hyundai unveiled the Venue at the New York International Auto Show in April. It joins the Palisade, Santa Fe, Tucson, Nexo and Kona in the carmaker’s SUV lineup.

Hyundai said the Venue will be introduced in various markets later this year.
