INTRODUCED in 2015, the seven-seat Foton Gratour MiniVan 1.2 was sought-after by first-time car buyers because of its functionality and cost-efficiency. Foton said that, in the provinces, the model was also used by businesses for delivering goods.
This year, Foton unveiled the Gratour MiniVan 1.5, which packs a bigger engine and which seats eight.
Powering the new Gratour MiniVan 1.5 is a Euro5-compliant 1.5-liter DAM 15 DR engine that makes 114hp and 150Nm. The power is sent to the front wheels by a five-speed manual transmission. Foton said the bigger engine “adequately suppresses” noise, resulting in a more comfortable drive. Also new to the model is electric power steering assist.
Retaining the 2,710-millimeter wheelbase of the previous model, the new Gratour MiniVan 1.5 boasts seating for eight. The third-row seats can be folded to increase cargo space. The vehicle has seatbelt reminders, overspeeding alarm, ABS with EBD, and push-button engine start.
The Gratour MiniVan 1.5 has five doors. Two of the side doors are sliding. The vehicle is marked by a new grille, upswept headlights, sculpted character lines and taillights that extend up to the rear window. New 14-inch alloy wheels wrapped with 175/70 tires complete the package.
Foton sells the Gratour MiniVan 1.5 for P570,000.
