THE Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on Thursday said portions of the C-3 Bridge will be closed to traffic beginning tomorrow, July 20, until December.
The closure is intended to give way for the construction of the North Luzon Expressway Harbor Link Segment 10.
C-3 Bridge connects Navotas and Caloocan.
The northbound portion of the bridge will be closed starting 11 p.m. tomorrow, a report posted on Thursday in the Philippine Daily Inquirer said. It added other portions of the bridge will be alternately closed as the construction progresses until December.
MMDA general manager Jose Arturo “Jojo” Garcia said “really, really heavy traffic” can be expected as 33,000 vehicles pass the C-3 Bridge daily, 7,000 of which are trucks.
During the partial closure, light vehicles coming from C-3 Road going to Radial Road 10, and vice versa, will be rerouted on Dagat-Dagatan Avenue and Lapu-Lapu Avenue. Heavy vehicles can still use the remaining open lanes of the bridge, according to the Inquirer report.
