Bentley is making sure that the world is safe from environmental harm and that future drivers would be able to enjoy the wonders of artificial intelligence with the electric and autonomous EXP 100 GT concept presented during its 100th year anniversary celebration in Crowe, England recently.

In keeping with its drive for sustainable innovation, the EXP 100 GT’s interior features artificial leather made from a byproduct of the wine industry, not to mention British-farmed wool carpets and embroidered organic cotton surfaces.

Even cabin trims are environment-friendly.

The Copper Infused Riverwood in the EXP 100 GT, according to Bentley, are fallen trees preserved for 5,000 years in peat bogs, lakes, and rivers and harvested by The Fenland Black Oak Project.

When the concept comes to fruition in 2035, Bentley should have realized zero-emission for long distance, high-speed travelers.

“The Bentley EXP 100 GT represents the kind of cars we want to make in the future,” said Bentley director of design Stefan Sielaff.

“Like those iconic Bentleys of the past, this car connects with its passengers’ emotions and helps them experience and safeguard the memories of the really extraordinary journeys they take,” he added.

Among the many interesting features of the concept car are the illuminated, animated grille and almost 2-meter long doors, a powerful EV drivetrain that can send it darting from 0-60 mph in under 2.5 seconds, a top speed of 300 kph, and over 1,100 lb-ft of torque.

Visitors of the presentation were awed by the Bentley’s R-Type Continental haunch at the rear, round headlights that overlap the grille, and a body that measures at 5.8 meters long and almost 2.4 meters wide.

The doors are designed to swing in gull-wing like manner for easy access, and what designers claim is to create a “sense of occasion.”

A key highlight of its technology innovations is the Bentley Personal Assistant integrated with artificial intelligence (AI), which enables users to make commands through hand gestures. Needing privacy and in trouble from poor air quality? The AI system can turn glass areas in the cabin opaque, use air-purification mode after detecting bad air.

The AI system is not just capable of recording journeys that allows passengers to replay highlights later, but is configured with adaptable biometric seating to detect the passenger’s needs with sensors that can monitor temperature, passenger position and environmental conditions.

One hundred years after its founding, Bentley continues to discover exciting innovations that promise to make journeys enjoyable and worth remembering.
