THE BMW X7 debuted the nameplate in the carmaker’s line of SAVs, or Sports Activity Vehicles. It is now also the biggest BMW, as well as the top model in the SAV range. On Wednesday, the distributor of BMW in the Philippines, SMC Asia Car Distributors Corp., announced this pioneering vehicle is now available in the country.
BMW said the model’s advanced powertrain and chassis technology guarantee the X7 “off-road prowess, excellent ride comfort and agile on-road handling.”
The model is offered locally as the X7 xDrive30d Pure Excellence. It is priced at P9.290 million and is backed by a five-year, 200,000-kilometer warranty. BMW said this sets a “new standard in the premium automotive segment in the Philippines.”
The X7 xDrive30d is powered by a 3.0-liter inline-six diesel engine that, with BMW’s TwinPower Turbo (a twin-scroll turbocharger), makes 265hp and 620Nm. An eight-speed Steptronic Sport automatic transmission is paired with the engine. The transmission sends power to BMW’s xDrive intelligent all-wheel drive system.
The X7 xDrive30d is 5,151 millimeters long, 2,000 millimeters wide and 1,805 millimeters tall, with a wheelbase stretching 3,105 millimeters. BMW said the model is marked by “harmonious proportions and establishes itself very clearly as the new head of the BMW X model family.” Defining its front end is an “exceptionally large” BMW “kidney” grille. Standard to the model are LED fog lights and BMW Laserlight headlights, slim LED taillights and a split tailgate, among others.
As part of the Pure Excellence design trim, the X7 xDrive30d has plenty of chrome accents, 21-inch alloy wheels wrapped in run-flat tires, and black gloss and satin aluminum trim.
The X7 xDrive30d has three rows of seats for seven people. All seats are adjusted electrically. Luggage capacity can be as much as 2,120 liters. Other cabin features are “Merino” upholstery, five-zone automatic climate control, ambient air package, a panorama glass roof, Harman Kardon surround-sound audio, rear-seat entertainment system and ambient lighting.
Also found in the cabin are the BMW Live Cockpit Professional, a fully digital instrument cluster, and Control Display. These have 12.3-inch touch screens where navigation and Apple CarPlay are integrated.
The X7 xDrive30d has a “comprehensive array of driver assistance systems on hand to enhance comfort and safety,” BMW said. Its safety features include six airbags, dynamic stability control, dynamic traction control, hill descent control and Active Protection, which closes any windows and tightens seatbelts when the system detects an accident is about to happen. Cruise control with braking function is standard, as well as Parking Assistant Plus.
