THE Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced “road reblocking-style” repair work will be performed at Elliptical Road in Quezon City starting today in order to fix perennial flooding in the area.
The repairs will be done every weekend beginning today and will last for one year, the agency said in a statement posted on its website.
MMDA general manager Jose Arturo “Jojo” Garcia, Jr. said the repairs will only be done on one lane per segment so that the two-kilometer roundabout would remain passable.
“One lane shall be closed on Friday at 11 p.m. and shall be opened again by Monday at 5 a.m. The same schedule will be applied the following weekend,” Garcia said.
MMDA said the repair work is part of a flood control measure of the Department of Public Works and Highways. It involves raising the middle portion of the road, covering the five lanes that usually get flooded during heavy rains.
The agency said additional traffic personnel will be deployed in the area to guide motorists.
