MG, Liverpool FC aim to score more goals together

July 27,2019

A REGIONAL tie-up that started in 2016 between MG and English football club Liverpool FC has just turned into an international partnership.

MG Philippines said the organizations’ enhanced collaboration is “expected to deliver mutual brand growth and awareness” in several key regions around the world.

At present, MG branding is featured on the LED screens of Anfield Stadium, Liverpool FC’s home pitch. The carmaker also gets first team player access, as well as being featured in Liverpool FC’s signed merchandise and digital platforms.

MG Philippines said MG has also created limited-edition Liverpool-branded vehicles, launched a TV commercial, and has invited Liverpool FC legends to attend the Shanghai International Motor Show. The partnership looks to launch fan-centric campaigns in future, like trips to the UK to watch a Liverpool FC match live and the chance to take part in player meet-and-greet/autograph signing sessions.

“We’re always looking for more people and partners to come together to create great things. The joint cooperation between MG and Liverpool FC will surely do this as we create more great moments together and bring more special experiences to fans around the world,” said Michael Yang, managing director of SAIC Motor International Business, owner of MG.

For his part, Liverpool FC managing director and chief commercial officer Billy Hogan, who called MG a “valued partner of the club for several years,” said; “We’re incredibly pleased to not only be renewing this relationship, but also be expanding it on a global scale. As partners, we have brought some incredible opportunities to our fans and chances for them to get closer to the action.”

MG Philippines bared its local sports partnerships involve those with college leagues UAAP and NCAA for basketball and volleyball.
