Are you ready for an electric-powered Ford F-150?

FORD Motor is building an all-electric version of its iconic, bestselling F-150 truck; it has confirmed this.

And one way the company did this — besides making an announcement — was by putting out a video showing a prototype of an all-electric F-150 towing a train for more than 1,000 feet. The train was comprised of 10 double-deck rail cars.

In the first run the electric F-150 towed 10 empty rail cars. In the second run it towed all 10 rail cars, but with 42 2019 production F-150 trucks loaded onto these. The total weight of the rail cars and 42 trucks came in at around 1.25 million pounds, according to Linda Zhang, chief engineer of the F-150.

In earlier announcements, Ford said it has earmarked $11.5 million for the development and production of at least 12 electrified vehicles — full electric and hybrids — by 2022. Among these is an electric crossover inspired by its Mustang. The carmaker also confirmed an all-new F-150 Hybrid will go on sale next year.
