Mercedes-Benz PH introduces the all-new B-Class

Auto Nation Group, the country’s official distributor of Mercedes-Benz introduces the all-new Mercedes-Benz B-Class at the Mercedes-Benz flagship dealership showroom along EDSA, Greenhills.  The all-new B-Class model is highlighted with an all-around sense of practicality and versatility while at the same time is redefined by a sportier and more dynamic package for today’s highly competitive premium compact tourer segment. The Mercedes-Benz B-Class is the second vehicle in the line up to receive an update following the debut of the A-Class last year.

The first generation B-Class was introduced over 14 years ago as a compact sports tourer with emphasis on showcasing the brand’s cutting edge and hip designs as it targeted a younger market.  The all-new B-Class represents a new generation of

vehicles that appeal to car owners who appreciate stylish, sporty, and technologically-advanced vehicles. Designers of the B-Class were able to execute a sportier profile and exterior, but not compromise on the cargo room and cabin space of a roomy compact MPV.

Compared from the previous generation B-Class, it offers increased interior dimensions with more headroom and elbowroom for both the front and rear seats, as well as higher seating height for the driver for improved all-around visibility. The 40-40-20 lay-fold rear seats gives out segment-leading cargo room, and its flexible seating layout allows storage of various types of cargo including golf bags, strollers and full-sized luggage.

The all-new B-Class is a very capable and sporty tourer that is good for long distance driving, and is powered by an inline four-cylinder engine with 7-speed dual clutch transmission that produces 136hp and 200Nm of torque. The car is packed with state-of-the-art active safety features that were previously only available to higher models.  Now equipped with an extended  Active Brake Assist as a standard, the system can effectively help to mitigate rear-end collisions usually caused by slower-moving, stopping or stationary vehicles ahead. Once the system detects a serious risk of collision, it triggers an audible warning, and also computes the brake pressure required to prevent a collision, and applies the brakes automatically with or without driver intervention. This feature ensures the best possible use of the remaining distance between the car and the vehicle behind, to prevent or in some cases, reduce the severity of the collision. Other safety features include Attention Assist with adjustable sensitivity to detect drowsiness and inattentiveness.

With younger drivers and owners in mind, Mercedes-Benz used the same state-of-the-art Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) that was first found on the new A-Class, which ushered in a new era of automotive connectivity. At the heart of the MBUX system is a highly intelligent virtual assistant, which is activated by pressing a button in the steering wheel or by simply saying, “Hey Mercedes.”  The vehicle’s infotainment system is controlled by three touchpoints (a touchpad, steering control, and a touchscreen on the dashboard), plus a voice command feature to control functions like destination input, phone call, music selection, climate control, ambient lighting, etc. The MBUX has an ingenious natural speech recognition program that helps it to recognize and understand nearly all sentences from the fields of multimedia and vehicle operation. The MBUX feature has the capability to learn, thanks to artificial intelligence, and at the same time, is customizable and adapts to the user.
