IN the last four years the annual Crayfish Party organized by the Nordic Chamber of Commerce Philippines has raised P1.4 million for the Chosen Children Foundation. The amount is used to run the daily operations of the Chosen Children Village, a haven for physically- and mentally-challenged children.

Attending a previous Crayfish Party are (from left) Volvo Philippines’ Chris Lee Yu, Nordic Chamber of Commerce (NordCham) Philippines’ Bo Lundqvist, Tina Jacinto, Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila PR manager Margot Calimon and NordCham Philippines’ membership and marketing coordinator Katarina Stintzing.

Volvo Cars’ distributor in the Philippines, Viking Cars, Inc., which has been supporting the Crayfish Party for the past four years, announced it is again joining the charity event this year. Scheduled on September 14, the Crayfish Party will take place at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza (the hotel is a partner to the event, along with the Philippine Norway Business Council).

Volvo said tickets to the charity party are now available for P3,900 per person and for P72,000 for a table of 20 guests. Among the attractions lined up are gastronomic delights and live entertainment.

The carmaker also explained the crayfish connection with Volvo. The company’s founders, Gustaf Larson and Assar Gabrielsson, first discussed the possibilities of making the first Swedish car over a crayfish dinner at Sturehof restaurant in August 1924. Three years later, Volvo’s OV4 was born.
