PAGANI Automobili announced its new Huayra Roadster BC, unveiled on the Zynga CSR Racing 2 mobile racing game, will officially debut at the Monterey Car Week in California scheduled from August 9-18.
The car, developed beginning in 2017, weighs only 1,250 kilograms, largely due to new composite technologies based on carbon-fiber and carbon-titanium. The use of these materials has resulted in a 12% increase in torsional rigidity and a 20% gain in flexional rigidity, according to Pagani.
The Huayra Roadster BC gets a new Mercedes-AMG engine developed exclusively for Pagani. The V12 makes 800hp and 1,050Nm from as low as 2,000rpm. Allowing this output are features like two new turbos, a hydroformed manifold, twin throttle bodies, four water/air intercoolers and an electronic system designed by Bosch. Pagani said the innovations mean the car complies with the latest international carbon footprint and emission standards, including that of California’s, without it having to resort to a hybrid system.
The Huayra Roadster BC’s aerodynamics is just as revolutionary, according to Pagani. The car can generate 500 kilograms of downforce at 280km/h while still being comfortable enough on public roads. To achieve this, the front of the car guarantees cooling for the V12 while generating downforce; the rear completes air extraction and keeps the vehicle’s pressure center constant. The wing becomes extremely effective even at average road speeds. An active aerodynamics system is then combined with a dynamic suspension setup.
Putting the power down to the tarmac are bespoke Pirelli PZero Trofeo R tires measuring 265/30 R20 in front, a massive 355/25 R21 in the rear. Hauling the car down to a stop are Brembo ventilated carbon-ceramic discs grabbed by six-piston calipers in front, four-piston calipers in the rear.
Production of the Huayra Roadster BC is capped at 40 units. Each of these cars costs €3.085 million.
