Two transport coops get their Isuzu modern PUVs

August 06,2019

THE Alabang Transport Service Cooperative (ATSC) and the Sampol Bulacan Santa Maria Meycauayan Transport Service Cooperative (SBSMMTSC) have taken deliveries of their new modern PUVs.

Centro Manufacturing Corp., which manufactures the bodies of the vehicles, said Isuzu Philippines Corp. recently turned over 24 Class 2 modern PUVs to ATSC and 16 more of the same models to SBSMMTSC.

The Isuzu modern PUVs are powered by Euro4-compliant diesel engines and are equipped with air-conditioners, CCTV, dashcam, GPS tracking and an automated electronic fare collection system.

Centro president Raphael Juan said Isuzu and Centro are glad over the “growing number of transport cooperatives” which trust their brands.

“We are confident that we will be able to deliver the benefits of the government’s PUV modernization program,” said Juan.

The executive said the modern PUV bodies Centro builds are “fully compliant” with Bureau of Philippine Standards PNS 2126 benchmark.

“With Isuzu as our partner, we have fully committed to support the PUV modernization program by providing vehicle solutions. And we will continue to do so by developing more Isuzu products in the different classes of the modern PUV,” Juan said.

He noted Isuzu modern PUVs can also be configured to have PWD-friendly features.

Centro said ATSC is one of the oldest and biggest cooperatives in Muntinlupa and has grown steadily since its founding in 1975. It is presently chaired by Bienvenido Barra.

The SBSMMTSC, led by Elizabeth Dolendo-Villacruz, is the first cooperative in Region 3 to comply with the PUV modernization program. The modern PUVs it received will ply routes in San Jose del Monte, Santa Maria, Marilao, Bocaue and Meycauayan in Bulacan.
