Porsche leads in performance, execution, layout — J.D. Power

August 06,2019

PORSCHE topped J.D. Power’s 2019 APEAL (Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout) study, which measures owners’ emotional attachment to and level of excitement with their new vehicle.

The study considers 77 attributes, ranging from the power owners feel when they step on the throttle, to the sense of comfort and luxury they feel when climbing onto the driver’s seat. These attributes are combined into an overall APEAL index score measured on a 1,000-point scale.

The study, now on its 24th year, is based on responses gathered between February and May from nearly 68,000 purchasers and lessees of new 2019 model-year vehicles in the US. The respondents were surveyed after 90 days of ownership.

The APEAL study is used by manufacturers worldwide to help them design and develop more appealing vehicles. It is also relied on by consumers in their purchase decisions.
