OCEAN Avenue sets the perfect backdrop to kick off the event for the Prestigious Car Week, held every August for the past 11 years. The Concours on the Avenue at Carmel event is where all enthusiasts, gearheads, restorers, collectors all gather. It is part of the Pebble Beach Concours calendar of events during car week at Monterey, California.
This year especially marks the celebration of 50 years of the movie “The Italian Job,” and what better way to remember the movie than with a 1967 Lamborghini Miura and a 1967 Austin Mini Cooper S on display. Not to forget all the air-cooled Porsche in attendance, which takes most of the parking slots.
Era-correct barn finds, full restorations, full documentations, single-owner cars restored to factory or even better quality, Rat Rods, Outlaws or slammed — all are here on display.
If you ask the owner nicely, he might even start the engine for you.
Another strong attendance are the highly sought-after 1963 Chevrolet Corvette “C2 Split Window” with a 327cu high-revving engine. Also coming in strong are the Ferraris, like the F40 NCRS racecar in Tubi exhaust (which is insanely loud), the controversial Dino, 308 and more.
The Americans also won’t let go without a fight and brings a 1969 Yenko Camaro, a 1967 GT500, a 1970 Chevelle SS and GT350H. You will easily get lost going around these beautiful cars. The great thing about them is that all or most are being driven and are not garage queens.
