TOYOTA Motor luxury division Lexus said its worldwide sales from January to June this year increased 10% compared to the same period in 2018. This represents 360,045 vehicles.
Lexus said the tally reflects an increase in demand for the new Lexus ES sedan and UX crossover, especially in China.
“We are honored that our vehicles are accepted by many consumers across the world. This year, the new RCF and RX will arrive to showrooms, and we are ready to attract a broader audience to the brand. Meanwhile, we continue to bring the latest features and thinking to vehicles, with ongoing attention to detail and craftsmanship for our customers. We endeavor to provide amazing experiences exceeding customers’ expectations, through our vehicles and beyond, as a luxury lifestyle brand,” said Lexus International president Yoshihiro Sawa.
Lexus said its sales in North America reached around 149,000 vehicles; around 95,000 units in China; around 40,000 units in Europe, around 32,000 units in Japan; around 18,000 units in East Asia; and around 16,000 in the Middle East. The carmaker’s growth in China was fastest during the first half of the year, rising 36%.
