CLASSIC cars, vintage pre-war cars and modern supercars are all well represented at this year’s Bonhams Quail Lodge Auction in Carmel Valley, California.

In case you haven’t heard of Bonhams, it is one of the premier auction houses that features top-notch cars from all over the world. This is especially true this year as an ultra-rare 1951 Ferrari 340 America Coupe Speciale Coachwork by Vignale will go under the hammer in a few days.

This prime example is being presented at Bonhams in unrestored condition and still bearing the original Vignale bodywork and matching numbers. It is truly a gem and a unique collectible example of Ferrari history.

The special Ferrari was ordered new by Johnny Ysmael, a prominent businessman in the Philippines who was also an avid car enthusiast. We were able to get a copy of the factory build sheet when Ysmael ordered the car for an eye-popping $25,000. This Ferrari will definitely go down the books for us Filipinos and for our motoring history.

The prestigious Manila Sports Car Club also had this car in its records as a member, even though it never set a wheel in the Philippines and was kept in Los Angeles most of its life until it was sold to another collector.

The only thing left to do now is to bring those checkbooks out, purchase this car, and bring it back to the Philippines.
