THE addition of what the company calls as an “industry pioneering” technology, called Dualock, marks the new line of Castrol Magnatec lubricants.
Castrol Philippines recently launched three new car engine oils which carry Dualock; the 10W-40 grade for gasoline engines; 10W-50 for diesel engines; and the fully synthetic 5W-30 suitable for both gasoline and diesel engines.
“We recognize the current congested traffic conditions drivers go through every day, and we know that our vehicles’ engines are put under constant stress. Because of this, we are more than excited to finally introduce a reinvented Castrol Magnatec with breakthrough Dualock Technology, said Castrol Philippines country manager Maria Tañada.
The company explained Dualock is the result of 10 years’ worth of research and development by Castrol technologists and scientists from one of the world’s leading universities. The technology causes a pair of protective molecules to lock together to form a powerful shielding layer on engine components. This results in an impressive 50% reduction in wear and tear from engine warm-up and stop-start operations, even for vehicles with the latest stop-start engine systems, Castrol said..
“We have built on Castrol Magnatec’s success, and once again introduce innovative products that work best according to the diverse needs of our consumers,” Tañada said.
Castrol said its Magnatec has been reinvented to suit traffic congestion, citing that drivers now usually stop and start as many as 18,000 in a year. They also spend up to 33% of urban travel time with their cars’ engines idling. Constant decelerating, idling and accelerating increases microscopic engine wear, according to Castrol.
