THE Honda Brio 1.2 V CVT posted a fuel consumption average of 24.5 kilometers per liter while the Honda BR-V 1.5 S CVT achieved 22.58 kilometers per liter over 231.45 kilometers of nighttime highway driving.
These, according to Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI), are the results of a fuel economy run it recently conducted in partnership with the Automobile Association of the Philippines (AAP).
HCPI said the vehicles were tested under realistic driving conditions. These were driven at speeds between 60km/h and 80km/h, with their engines operating between 1,500rpm and 2,000rpm. Their air-conditioners were set at 50% cool and the blower fan speed to 1.
The company called the BR-V’s fuel consumption result “remarkable” given the model’s 119hp output.
“With this, the BR-V achieves the distinct position of being the most powerful in its class, yet with excellent fuel efficiency,” HCPI said.
It added the Brio’s performance was expected given its small engine.
“But with class-leading space and legroom, overall superb drivability, and above-average power, the Honda Brio breaks the norms of typical small cars available in the market today,” HCPI said.
The company noted it initiated the fuel economy run with AAP — which supervised the proceedings and certified the results — to provide customers accurate and relevant information that can aid in their car selection process.
“By knowing the fuel rating of these vehicles [which were] achieved through realistic conditions, customers will be able to make [an] informed and intelligent decision in their car purchase,” HCPI said.
