(UPDATE: Sources at PGA Cars, official importer and distributor of Audi in the Philippines, confirmed the latest Audi Q7 will be sold for P5.0 million.)
AUDI Philippines said the new Audi Q7 is thoroughly updated visually and technically as it gets the fresh design cues of the Q family, as well as superb dynamics, excellent comfort and superior spaciousness. The model will debut in the country in 2020.
Matrix LED headlights, a mild hybrid technology and a digital operating concept are just some of its highlights.
The Q7 has the hallmark SUV elements of Audi’s current design language. It bears the large octagon-shaped Singleframe grille that has six upright slats, making it look even more powerful. Two-part side air inlets also give it a more expressive line, just as the sill underscores the large SUV’s ground clearance and its off-road capabilities.
The headlights, with optional Matrix LED technology, provide the light signature and width of the full-size Q7. The rear is marked by a striking chrome strip that visually connects the taillamps’ technical-looking graphics with the horizontal body line. The Q7’s designers achieved taut, flat surfaces which span the entire width of the rear, particularly in the license plate area.
In S line trim, the Q7’s exterior is even more striking, thanks to a blade in the front bumper, underbody protections at the rear, and a full-paint finish.
Audi made the Q7 more dynamic via an all‑wheel steering system; the rear wheels can turn as much as five degrees opposite the direction the front wheels are turned. Offered as an option is electromechanical active roll stabilization. Adjustable stabilizers reduce the body movements on uneven roads when driving in a straight line. These make the Q7 maneuverable, precise and agile in urban traffic and on hairpin bends while remaining very comfortable. An adaptive air suspension guarantees this, as well as provide variable ground clearance.
The Q7’s standard quattro all-wheel drive allows it to traverse any terrain. Drivers can select from seven off-road mode settings via the Audi drive select dynamic handling system.
All engines offered in the Q7 are coupled to an eight-speed tiptronic transmission and permanent quattro all‑wheel drive. The standard mild hybrid technology plays a major part in the efficiency of the engines. The system can reduce consumption by up to 0.7 liters per 100 kilometers. Its central component, the belt alternator starter (BAS), powers a 48-volt main electrical system in which a compact lithium-ion battery stores the energy. During braking, the BAS can recover up to 8kW of power and feed it back into the battery.
The new seven-seat Q7 grew 11 millimeters longer; it now measures 5,063 millimeters long, 1,970 millimeters wide and 1,741 millimeters high. The model has a longer cabin, with more headroom and elbow room, than any of its direct competitors.
Defining the latest Q7’s cockpit is a new, digital operating concept incorporating two large touchscreens that provide haptic and acoustic feedback when clicking on the touch controls. All elements refer logically to one another, from the flat air vent strip to the wide console on the center tunnel. The optional contour ambient lighting package illuminates the interior. Convenient equipment options include four-zone automatic air conditioning, a power-assist function to close the doors, a Bose Premium Surround Sound audio, and an air quality package with fragrance and ionizer. Audi’s MMI navigation plus delivers top-of-the-line connectivity to the new Q7. It features the all-digital Audi virtual cockpit and the optional head-up display. Driver assistance systems include adaptive cruise assist and active lane assist. In combination with efficiency assist the systems brake and accelerate the vehicle in anticipation of conditions ahead.
The emergency assist is also new: If the driver is inactive, the system brings the car to a stop and initiates protective and rescue measures.
