Mitsubishi teases plug-in SUV hybrid concept ahead of Tokyo Motor Show

September 20,2019

A SMALL plug-in hybrid SUV concept will be the highlight — or, at the least, one of the highlights — of Mitsubishi Motors Corp.’s (MMC) exhibition space at the Tokyo Motor Show in October. The concept model will make its world debut at the show.

MMC said the SUV concept car “pulls together the company’s electrification and all-wheel drive control expertise and technologies.”

Conceived under the concept of “an electric SUV that delivers unparalleled driving pleasure and confidence over all terrain in light and wind,” MMC said it will propose new values which combine SUV, PHEV and 4WD. The car will have a downsized, lighter plug-in hybrid drivetrain, as well as an electric 4WD system.

MMC said the concept car offers “reassurance and safety in everyday driving” while allowing drivers to “confidently push further” over rough road surfaces.
