FOLLOWING the new MG 5 sedan’s unveiling at the 2019 Cebu Auto Show, marking the model’s arrival in the country, the car sets out for its Metro Manila launch program via a display at the Glorietta 2 Activity Center on October 3-6 and the MG Live! concert by IV of Spades on October 5.
MG Philippines said to be displayed alongside the 5 sedan are the MG ZS crossover SUV, RX5 SUV and MG 6 fastback sedan.
“We at MG Philippines have always regarded MG Live! as a celebration of the vibrance and the youthfulness of modern MGs, as well as the rich musical talent inherent in the Philippines,” said MG Philippines president Alberto B. Arcilla. “This edition of MG Live! is particularly special because it highlights our latest sedan, the MG 5, which is a model that we at MG Philippines recognize as an important participant in the highly competitive subcompact sedan category, and a vehicle that speaks to an even wider audience. This event is our way of bringing the MG 5 and all of our cars closer to the local market in a manner that all Filipinos can relate to — through music.”
The company noted the 5 enters the country’s “very competitive” subcompact sedan segment with best-in-class legroom for front and rear passengers. The car is powered by a 113hp, 150Nm, 1.5-liter engine mated to either a five-speed manual transmission or a CVT with manual mode. Its cabin features include a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment head unit that can run both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto; a 360-degree vehicle view; a power-operated driver’s seat; and automatic on/off LED headlamps.
MG Philippines said it will accept test-drive requests for all its models during the display event.
The 5 is available in four variants, with prices set between P658,888 and P938,888.
