PH’s first off-road expo posts record numbers

HELD on September 28-29 at the Arcovia City in Pasig City was the Philippines’ first 4×4 Expo, which brought together the country’s overlanding enthusiasts and companies promoting the outdoor lifestyle. It was the largest local gathering of 4×4 vehicles and enthusiasts.

The vision for the 4×4 Expo was to be the venue in which enthusiasts can gather as a community and enjoy the different aspects that go with the outdoor lifestyle. Arcovia City provided 18,000 square meters of property to accommodate a variety of activities. One of the highlights during the weekend event was a fully functional off-road driving track designed by off-road legend Olson Camacho. In this track, beginners were taught the basics of safe driving over uneven terrain. The track included makeshift sand dunes, a dirt road and even a water-wading moat.

Another activity visitors learned from was the participation of trusted automotive accessory brands preferred by off-road enthusiasts when they upgrade their vehicles and make these geared up and ready for the drive. Besides main presenters Black Rhino Wheels and Nitto Tires, brands which set up display booths included Bilstein, PIAA, Motul, Decathlon, Atoy Customs, Overland Kings, CTEK and Coleman, among others. Also held were tech talks delivered by some sponsors that discussed making overlanding a safe hobby.

The gathering also highlighted the impressive 4×4 rigs and vehicles by the industry’s enthusiasts The pubic enjoyed the individual displays, as well as the participation of some of the country’s biggest car clubs like the Land Rover Club, Jeep Club, Terra Nation, Jimny Club, Raptor Group and Montero Sport United, to name a few.

Another highlight of the Expo was the collaboration with the Pinoy Prepper Bazaar and the Association of Philippine Volunteer Fire Brigades, which shared disaster preparedness and fire safety tips to event visitors.

The 4×4 Expo was supported by Chevrolet, GAC Motors, Isuzu, Jeep, Land Rover, Mitsubishi Motors and Suzuki. These brands offered test-drives of their latest 4×4 vehicles.
