Arcilla, Swedish ambassador to the Philippines Harald Fries, Volvo Asia Pacific’s market area director Jakob Olsson and Volvo Asia Pacific’s director of energy propulsion systems and controls and calibration Niclas Bratt.

VOLVO Philippines recently pitched its three new plug-in hybrid models by organizing a forum tackling environmental challenges and how the company is “leading the charge in transforming the automotive landscape.”

“We dare to make a change for the better, starting with how we create our cars,” Volvo Philippines president and CEO Alberto B. Arcilla said.

Volvo Philippines said the forum’s panelists and speakers were Swedish ambassador to the Philippines Harald Fries, Partnership for Clean Air president Rene Pineda, Jr., Clean Air Asia transport program coordinator Kathleen Dematera, MVP Group of Companies managing director Mike Toledo, Volvo Asia Pacific head of propulsion energy systems and controls and calibration Niclas Bratt, and Volvo market area director for Asia Pacific Jakob Olsson.

Volvo Philippines recently introduced three plug-in hybrid models, namely the Volvo XC60 SUV, S90 wagon and XC90 midsize SUV. All are powered by the company’s T8 Twin Engine.

Volvo explained the T8 Twin Engine combines a high-performance, low-emission gasoline engine with an electric motor, and so the system can deliver power on demand and ultra-low CO2 emissions while also being capable of propelling the vehicle for more than 40 kilometers in pure electric mode. All three Volvo plug-in hybrid models available locally have powertrains which produce more than 400hp. The electrified powertrains also offer up to 15% in fuel savings and emission reduction, Volvo said.

The S90, XC60 and XC90 T8 Twin Engine models have three drive modes; Power, Pure (electric only) and Hybrid (engine and electric motor).
