VOLVO Philippines continues its support for the Chosen Children Foundation through the company’s annual Crayfish Party, which raises funds for the charity group.
Volvo said “numerous groups and individuals” have in the past four years raised P1.4 million, which was earmarked for the mentally and physically challenged beneficiaries in the Chosen Children Village. The amount is used for the daily operations of the foundation’s home and in enhancing the living conditions of its residents.
At the Crayfish Party, Volvo said guests were treated to a Viking-themed affair, complete with servings of crayfish and other traditional Nordic and Scandinavian fare. A tribute to the Swedish pop band Abba was also rendered by guest performers.
Displayed at the event held in mid-September at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila were the Volvo S90 and the Volvo XC60 midsize SUV, both of which powered by the brand’s plug-in hybrid T8 Twin engine. This powertrain helps cut down emissions, especially if the vehicles are switched to pure-electric mode.
Volvo explained the crayfish party honors the brand’s heritage as company founders, in 1924, first discussed the idea of making the first Swedish car over a meal of crayfish.
