It has been an exciting 2019 for MG Philippines, as the British heritage car brand was introduced to the Philippine motoring public in a very big way. Through engaging marketing campaigns, aggressive sales promotions, and reliable aftersales complements, MG Philippines has been on the radar of many Pinoys looking for a stylish, safe, modern, attainable car with a rich motoring history behind it.
The best qualities of modern MGs—easy and fun to drive, comfortable interiors, packed with modern driver and passenger safety accoutrements, and with designs that are very easy on the eyes—were put on display at the MG Media Getaway powered by Phoenix Pulse Technology: a milestone occasion as this was MG Philippines’ first media ride-and-drive event.
The MG Media Getaway brought a dozen Filipino motoring journalists on a 270-kilometer drive from MG EDSA Centris to the idyllic surfing town of Baler, Aurora, demonstrating the durability and reliability of MGs on various road conditions, ample legroom, headroom, and luggage space, and unmatched comfort and driver ease over extended periods of driving.
On hand for the journey was the full lineup of MG Philippines including the popular MG ZS Crossover SUV; the head-turning and zippy MG 6 Fastback Sedan; the spacious and powerful RX5 SUV; and MG Philippines’ latest offering: the MG 5 sedan, which leads its class in dimensions and in specs. All four vehicles were launched during MG’s inaugural year in the Philippines, and it was only fitting to have all available for the sampling of the media guests.
MG Philippines’ vehicles are aggressively priced, with the most attainable MG 5 1.5L MT coming in at only P658,888. That is not saying, however, that these low price points mean these MG cars are bare-boned. Depending on the spec level, modern MG’s are equipped with class-leading features including touch screen infotainment systems, 360-degree camera view, panoramic sunroof, automatic LED headlights, traction control, and hill start assist just to name a few (again, all of which were tested during the MG Media Getaway).
And these great MG products are likewise supplemented by MG Philippines’ premium aftersales offers and services. These include a 5-year or 100,000 km warranty (whichever comes first) on all brand new MG cars, and 1-year free periodic maintenance service (PMS) to set your mind at ease. Aside from that, MG owners can also download the My MG mobile app which allows them to easily schedule vehicle servicing appointments from the convenience of their smartphones. They can also use the app to book a visit from MG Philippines’ Mobile Garage service caravan that provides MG owners with vehicle home service for major technical issues. MG HERO Services, on the other hand, provides 24/7 roadside support through the MG Philippines hotline (+632 5328-4664).
Once in Baler, the delegation touched down at L’Sirene Boutique Resort—a quiet enclave away from the very popular (and populated) Sabang Beach, perfect for relaxing moments of peace yet still within proximity of the famous surfing waves of Baler. After a relaxing afternoon on the beach, a night of lively socials, and an invigorating beach sunrise, the group was re-energized for the drive home.
2020 is going to be another exciting year for MG Philippines, with its nationwide dealership network set to expand even further. Under The Covenant Car Company, Inc. (TCCCI), it’s safe to say that MG Philippines is set to make an even bigger splash in the coming year.
