“It embodies the core brand values of Porsche—dynamics, power output and speed”

Porsche has revealed the all-new 911 Turbo S, and the latest version of the legendary nameplate will soon be introduced by Porsche Philippines.

Coming in Coupé and Cabriolet versions, the all-new 911 Turbo S is powered by an equally new six-cylinder, 3.8-liter boxer engine producing 650ps and 800Nm of torque—70ps and 50Nm more than what the previous engine made. Matched to an eight-speed Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) transmission that is specific to the Turbo models, the engine can propel the car from a standstill to 100km/h in 2.7 seconds, 0.2 seconds quicker than before. Top speed of the all-new 911 Turbo S remains unchanged at 330km/h.

“The first 911 Turbo was a real sensation in the ’70s. And with each new generation, we are taking it one step further, making it sharper in design, faster, and more efficient. The Turbo is part of our DNA. It embodies the core brand values of Porsche—dynamics, power output and speed,” said Porsche CEO Oliver Blume during the livestream introduction of the all-new Porsche 911 Turbo S.

The engine of the all-new 911 Turbo S is based on the 911 Carrera engine generation. It features a completely redesigned charge air cooling system, two new larger variable turbine geometry (VTG) turbochargers with electrically adjustable wastegate flaps, and piezo injectors. The turbine wheels are larger by five millimeters, to 55 millimeters, while the 61-millimeter compressor wheel is now three millimeters bigger. The wastegate flaps are electrically controlled by stepper motors.

The new six-cylinder engine is aspirated by an intake system which swaps around the previous routing of processed air and charge air cooling. In the updated system, part of the processed air now flows through the characteristic Turbo air intakes in the rear side sections. In front of the air filters, now situated in the rear wings, two other airflows have also been incorporated through the rear lid grille. This means the new 911 Turbo S has four intakes with a larger overall cross-section and lower resistance, helping improve engine efficiency.

All the updates have significantly improved the engine’s responsiveness, power, torque, emissions and revving ability.

Declaring the enhanced driving dynamics of the all-new 911 Turbo S is an expanded body, which is now 45 millimeters wider above the front axle (at 1,840 millimeters) and 20 millimeters more above the rear axle (at 1,900 millimeters). This increases track by 42 millimeters in front and 10 millimeters at the back. Further contributing to the car’s agility and sportiness are its improved aerodynamics and new mixed-size tires—a first for the 911 Turbo S. Fitted to the front wheels are 20-inch tires with their unique 255/35 dimensions while the rear wheels are wrapped with 21-inch 315/30 tires.

18-way adjustable sport seats, 10.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system and Bose surround-sound stereo

Adaptive aerodynamic features now include controlled cooling air flaps at the front and a larger rear wing. The redesigned, pneumatically extendable front spoiler and the larger rear wing deliver 15% more downforce. The muscular rear wing sections with integrated air intakes emphasize the sleek body of the 911 Turbo S.

The new look of the rear is completed by rectangular tailpipes in high-gloss black, typical of the Turbo. The front-end of the all-new 911 Turbo S has dual light modules, as well as standard LED matrix headlights with dark inserts.

New equipment options underline the much sportier image of the all-wheel drive 911 Turbo S. Included among these are the Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) sports chassis that has been lowered by 10 millimeters, and the sports exhaust system with adjustable flaps, guaranteeing a distinctive sound.

Thanks to the enhanced Porsche Traction Management (PTM) all-wheel drive system, the drivetrain’s transfer case can distribute more torque, allowing for up to 500Nm being transferred to the front wheels. The new generation of the standard PASM chassis is also sportier. Faster and more precisely controlled dampers provide significant advantages to driving dynamics as these enhance roll stability, road holding, steering behavior and cornering speeds.

“Porsche is taking responsibility for society and the environment. At the same time, we are driving dreams from the racetrack to the road,” Blume said, adding; “This is what makes Porsche unique—and a really cool brand.”
